Imaginative Education
Maggio 30, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
In the light of fostering interdisciplinary research on embodiment and imaginative education, MultiLab hosts a workshop on “Cultivating Imagination” with Dr. Gillian Judson, Faculty of Education, Simon Fraser University, and Prof. Hans Fuchs, University of Applied Sciences, Winterthur.
Dr. Judson’s talk will focus on the concept of “perfinking” to reflect upon imagination and its importance in education. She will also show how imagination can be nurtured starting from the basic assumptions of Imaginative Education theory (IE), developed by educational philosopher Kieran Egan.
IE works on a set of “cognitive tools”, such as narrations, metaphors and embodied simulations, that influence the ways in which children’s imaginative understanding grows and changes within the social and cultural context in which they find themselves. In his talk, Prof. Fuchs will focus on the use of these cognitive tools for teaching physics in pre-school and primary school.
